And we're going to remain super busy for the foreseeable future. The house looks good (see below), but the garage and basement are works in progress. We're loading up the garbage cans and recycling bins on a weekly basis.
So, now that most of the work around the house is done, we just have to keep the house looking nice, keep moving out the things we're ready to get rid of, and wait. We should find out tomorrow how the open house went, and there's a showing tomorrow afternoon.
Poor Charlie has had a tough time. He's not been allowed to run freely in the yard (Jon mulched, and we had a local contractor power wash the deck, and then Jon stained it...) and hasn't been allowed to run freely in the house (painting, moving stuff around, doors open a lot). We came home this afternoon after the open house, and he walked into the living room and flopped on the bare floor while giving me the most mournful hound dog look. So I went and pulled his big round bed out of the garage and put it back by the fireplace. It might not be "staging" recommended. On the other hand, our development is one of the few where you can have a 6' privacy fence, and it seems to draw a lot of dog owners.
The kids are doing better with all this than I thought they would... I left their rooms until the last minute, and a lot of their stuff is boxed up and in the basement. We'll need to go through it, but we can do that later after the move. Annabel looked around her room this morning and said "mom, is this a 'look?'" I said yes, and she said "and in our new house I can have a new 'look?'" I agreed, and she was happy. She's been campaigning for a purple room lately.
And that's about it, really.
