-- We're big fans of the TV show The Big Bang Theory in our house. I loved this article about the show's fact checker, who's a real-life physicist genius: TV Fact-Checker: Dropping Science On The Big Bang Theory.
-- Otto has been asking to buy Bulk the past couple of weeks. I agree with Give 'Em An Allowance! by David McCurranch at kidsmoney.org about allowances. Now we just have to remember to bring home cash for him every week...
-- Annabel has had a rough week - she's been very emotional, quick to have meltdowns, even downright defiant about a couple of things. Not really normal for her, so when I read this at Ask Moxie I thought "YES! That's exactly what's going on!" -- Ask Moxie: More unformed thoughts on those rough times (3 1/2-year-olds)
-- When Herb and Michel visited a couple of weeks ago, Jon took us to Salt City Antiques in downtown Ypsi. He knew I'd love it, and he was right - I walked out with a stack of Fiestaware luncheon plates in assorted colors and a big red serving bowl (what can I say - the prices were right). Our original set of cobalt-blue Fiesta (got it for our wedding and have used it every day since) is finally thinning out a bit. I'm going to keep buying multiple colors to fill in. Fun!
-- Otto and I have been reading Ratchet and Clank together this week at bedtime. It's really good! He's quite the comic reader right now, and we encourage it. I completely agree with the tips in this article by James Patterson at cnn.com: How to get your kid to be a fanatic reader.
Our weekend will be full of the usual - soccer, errands, laundry. Next week my mom is visiting - yay! The kids are already excited about Halloween, so we might work out costumes next week. I kind of want to decorate a little bit this year -- funny, not scary. Something to make kids giggle, like this:
