It's been a weird week. I was sick Monday, Bel was sick starting Tuesday (we got one of those "your kid has a fever over 100" calls) and through yesterday. My work week, already shortened by New Year's, became almost non-existent. Jon had a couple of work-from-home days this week, which was lovely, especially since we had freezing rain last night and this morning. Any day he doesn't have to leave at o-dark-hundred to drive in freezing rain is a good day.
One of the random things I've done this week is start "pinning" things at Pinterest. I used to keep folders full of pages I'd pulled from magazines -- pictures of rooms I liked, ideas for gifts or crafts, pictures of DIY projects. But I don't do that so much anymore, it seems a lot of that kind of thing is on-line now. We'll see if Pinterest helps me keep track of images and ideas I like. So far I've posted just a few things (you can see them here).
Yesterday Bel and I dropped Otto off at day care, then went to the grocery store to get some sick-girl food (she didn't have much of an appetite while she was running a fever). She's been asking to go the store to buy milk lately, and asked to get "Jell-O" too because she saw someone at school with Jell-O in their lunch. So we found the Jell-O area first thing and discovered that she didn't want jello Jell-O, she wanted pudding cups. She ended up with chocolate pudding cups, Teddy Grahams, Goldfish crackers, frozen pizza, hot dogs, ice cream, apples, and cherry tomatoes. Half of those things had to sit with her in the cart seat, and she only relinquished them when we got to the checkout. Then she climbed out and helped me put it all on the belt, which charmed everyone and earned her a red balloon.
I've spent a lot of time this week reading, and sleeping, and tickling my children. Otto is demanding peanut butter and jelly sandwiches at every turn. Winter break means he gets to have real peanut butter instead of soy nut butter, and he's been thrilled about that. Annabel was feeling much better today, and tonight we painted her toenails hot pink ("bootiful" she said). Lilly is really enjoying having us home, she's been coming to find me about 10am as if to say "you'll be home today? Good! Sit still and let me take a nap here." In general I've been quite the slacker, I guess. Bel and I have both been sick a lot the last 3-4 months, so maybe we needed the break? I don't know. But it's been good to sort of lie around and let my brain unbend.
Oh, and I've been playing Angry Birds. A lot. In fact... "Hi, my name is Heather, and I'm addicted to Angry Birds." Hah! Truthfully, I'm sort of worried what I'll do when I get through all the levels.
