things I should be doing this afternoon:
- cleaning bathrooms
- moving bedroom furniture around to vacuum
- raking lava rock out of the planting area in front of the house
- returning books to the library half a mile away
- making Jon mow the lawn
instead I'm moving my iTunes library to the external harddrive and surfing the web
I found this, though, which made me laugh. I'm not sure if I'd buy the Hillary shirt or wait for the Obama one...
Work's really busy right now -- we're trying to get organized for summer, and I just hired my new bookkeeper. Next I need to hire an assistant for my youth services librarian (she's definitely in need of one, after going over her calendar of summer activities). I have to wrap up the budget, set up interviews with potential auditors, get ready for our annual meeting... I'm behind on book selection right now, only half-way through the 600s (my weeding task for April), and need to spend some quality time with the new floorplan to figure out where everything will live once our remodeling is done. I went in to work yesterday to move the accounting computer and set up the new bookkeeping office, among other things. And Friday night we have a staff meeting to talk about summer, which means I have to get the schedule figured out. I've decided to set a basic schedule with empty slots where we'll need extra help, and offer to let people sign up for additional hours based on seniority.
I'm making mock margaritas for Friday night (we're having a cinco de mayo theme), although I'm sure that by the time Friday gets here again I'll need a real one.
Otto had a great week at day care. They did a week-long unit on vegetables, and he actually ATE some, like onions and celery and peppers. Thursday night we had to go to Whole Foods to find an eggplant, and he was pretty enthusiastic about the produce section. Jon and I have to capitalize on that and start making real food for him again, instead of chicken nuggets and applesauce.
Amanda called me yesterday to report that she'd finished her half marathon. Go Amanda! She's been stressed lately, so I hope it helped to get out and accomplish something major. I could walk a half-marathon, maybe, in about 2 days. When she gets stressed she gets more active. I get less.
Which perhaps explains why I'm still sitting here.
Not any more, though! That bedroom won't know what hit it...
